Brain Fuzzies

I had my own little health scare this morning. I had an "ocular migraine." I've never had a migraine like this before so I was very concerned. In fact, I didn't know what it could be and called my doctor's office immediately. (My boss was also very concerned.) My eye sight became obscured by small dots containing lines and patterns. The dots got larger and larger over about 20-30 minutes. My vision was almost completely obscured at one point for several minutes. I was really worried that something was very wrong. I called the my doctor's nurse and she wasn't available so the receptionist said she'd have her call back as soon as possible (I emphasized the urgency more than once) and suggested I call my optometrist. So I did. I called and got an appointment for about an hour and 15 minutes later. Betsy picked me up (I still wasn't sure if I could drive at that point) and brought me. The optometrist confirmed what a couple coworkers had suspected, that it was an ocular migraine. It was VERY strange! He said he's even had a patient come in seeing spots which showed their dead grandmother hovering around like a cloud. I guess I'm glad I just saw lines and shapes. He said they can play tricks on you because of the part of the brain that it triggers. So, I might have these now and then.

Still waiting to hear from my medical doctor's office. The nurse called when I was in my other appointment and when I returned her call she was busy again. Go figure! I doubt there is anything that can be done anyway. They just might happen from time to time, hopefully without being followed by a migraine headache. I guess I'd prefer to just have the ocular type, alone. :)
