Christmas Shopping

Shane and I went shopping yesterday while Shaun and Logan stayed home. It was really fun to hang out with Shane. We started at the mall and shared pizza and soda then had TCBY a little later. Santa bought a couple things at the mall, but not much. The majority of Santa's budget, and ours, was spent at Target. We got there in the middle of the afternoon when the crowd was dwindling. I purposely did not shop to early in the day for this reason. Shane was having a blast "being" santa and choosing the stocking stuffers, socks, toothbrushes and regular things that santa brings us. This was his first year really helping. We spent a couple hours at Target and got almost everything. We then ran a couple other places and got gift cards before going home to unload the gifts from us to other people. Shane insisted the santa gifts stay in the trunk of the car until tonight. He's too worried about Logan finding them. I told him we've always had a good hiding place and not to worry.

This, I think, is really only Shane's second Christmas not believing in Santa. Even the one two years ago we were able to manage. He found out about santa when he lost a tooth and I was too lazy to be the toothfairy. I didn't have any cash or change to put under his pillow and he was pretty sure there wasn't a tooth fairy anyway. I confirmed this and then said, "you know the tooth fairy is like santa." He said "I knew it! I thought you were santa!" He's been in on all of it since and he's loving the magic that he is helping to create for Logan.

All day today Shane has been bugging me about wrapping the "santa gifts." Actually, I think it may have started last night. The shopping must have gotten to him. Shaun and I are really bad about wrapping gifts until right before they are sent, put under the tree (maybe a couple days before Christmas), or the night before Santa comes. So, tonight, starting in a few moments, Shane and I will be locked into my bedroom wrapping gifts and sorting stocking stuffers. It's so very cold outside that I'm not sure I even want to go into the garage to bring in the bags!

I hope you have as much fun shopping and wrapping that I'm having. Enjoy the holidays as they only come two months out of the year! I am now going to my room with my computer so that I may play Christmas music while I get papercuts and frustrated with folding the wrapping paper...Yikes! One day I'll get better at this.

If you haven't done so already, and would like a Christmas card (i.e. family picture of us), please email me your address.

"Yes, Shane we will now go w-r-a-p the presents."

The Lindahls have three kids and when Eric (the oldest) found out about Santa they let him do the stockings for the other two. Once the other two finally found out they started having each kid getting the stocking stuff for another one instead of getting each other presents. I always thought that was a neat idea.

You told me about that! I love that idea. Shane has really enjoyed it this year. He probably asked me 10 times today when we would wrap presents. At least half of those times we were at church.
