Becoming a Cowboy

Yesterday Logan decided that he needed boots. Mainly this came up because Shaun was needing to buy himself some knew work boots. Logan and I accompanied Shaun to the Tractor Supply and the to Vanderbilt's in Wamego. At first Logan was very disappointed that Tractor Supply didn't carry any boots in his size. I then found a great deal on long sleeve John Deere t-shirts and got each of the boys one, at $5 a shirt. In the car on the way to Wamego Logan quickly changed into his and loved it because cowboys love John Deere.

At Vanderbilt's Logan was delighted to find that there were several styles of boots in his size and quickly found a pair to his liking (and I made sure it was in a low price range). He announced they'd be perfect for this summer when he started lessons. Lessons??? Yes, Logan decided he wants to take horseback riding lessons. And he wants to start this summer. I'm all for that! Logan will now have to convince his over-protective father. Shaun is worried that Logan will be paralyzed before his eighth birthday just because he takes riding lessons. I tried to tell him that taking lessons will teach him the right way to care for and ride horses. This includes safety. Shaun's not convinced. Oh well, I'm sure Logan will talk him into it by this summer. He seems to be able to talk his way into just about anything he wants, through either his charming ways or just being fussy long enough. He's more than a bit spoiled!

Once Logan had his boots, a full tummy, and his cowboy hat which he'd gotten in Nashville last May (he wasn't able to smooth talk his way into a new hat at Vanderbilt's), he decided that he looked good enough for a photo shoot. We came home and started right in on that request! I'm always up for taking pictures of my handsome boys! Shane took a shower while Logan and I hit a nearby dirt hill that he plays on and then Logan made sure that Shane joined us for a few shots by himself and then together. Logan was very photogenic and was having a blast. I think the best part was all I had to do was to suggest it!

Below is a video of the best of the late afternoon's spur-of-the-moment session:
